I wrote a lot in the past about how no one knows me and no one understands me. People might know things about me but they don't know me. Do they know why I do the things I do? Do they know why I am the way I am? How are you? What are you up to? What did you do this weekend? There's more to me than what I do.
While it may be true that most never really took the time or made the effort to get to know me, there are a few who have tried but I squashed their attempts by lying or keeping secrets. I will confess that I am a compulsive liar. A master of deceit. Ask my parents about my sneaky childhood. Actually, they don't even know the half of it. I'm also good at cover up and getting away with things. I admit that I have this wall built around myself and I don't let anyone in. Words like "exposed", "transparency" and "vulnerable" do not describe me and being those things scare the heck out of me. Why? Because while I really want to be understood and to stop fighting, there are also the deep dark sins that I am ashamed of and afraid to bring to light.
This is a huge contrast from God. Why do we have such a hard time understanding God and knowing Him? He has no walls. He has no sins which He hides. He has told us everything through His Word and revealed to us by the Spirit. Jesus, as man, became as vulnerable and exposed as anyone can ever be. His intentions, his purpose for doing everything he explained to His followers and is written ever so clearly for us today.
But are we making an honest and genuine attempt to know God? Are we asking Him the right questions? Do we really want to know him or do we just want to know what He did this weekend?
