What's in your bucket?

In this world, we have talkers and we have listeners. I am of the latter. I bet some of my teachers would beg to differ but trust me when I say, I am not a talker. I am what the Chinese call a "boon tung seui" - a half bucket of water. I may know a bit about everything but I don't completely know anything. I may be particularly good at everything but never excel in anything. I am only half full of it. LOL.

But some people are talkers. They can talk for hours and hours, non-stop! Some people can speak on just about anything under the sun but then there are those who seem to only have one subject on their mind. Sometimes I wonder why these people can't talk about something else. Why do we always talk about the same subject? Ahh!! There's more to life than this!!! Why?!

So I pondered and pondered and I came up w/ two reasons: 1) They absolutely LOVE to talk about this particular subject matter because it's what they are passionate about, they want to engage everyone else in the same topic, to share what they know and to gain different perspectives; and/or 2) this is their area of expertise, it's what they know and understand best, if they don't talk about this subject, they have nothing else to say, ask them about something different and they might draw blanks but ask them about their subject and they can't be stumped!

This is one reason why I'm not a talker. (Other reasons are my lack of vocab and grammar skills, my stuttering and it's taken my lifetime to finally wear off my lisp, sort of...) I can only speak so much before I'm done. I don't know enough about things or am passionate enough about anything. I wish I was though. While it may annoy me sometimes that some people talk constantly about the same things, I wish I can speak non-stop about my Savior. I wish I can be so passionate about God that He's always on my lips and am able to engage everyone around me in conversations about Him. I wish He was my area of expertise, whom I know and understand best. I wish I was a full bucket of God! Haha. That was pretty cheesy but you know what I mean.

I want my bucket to be filled. I want to be full... of God.

It was a beautiful Saturday this weekend. The weather was so nice that I went rollerblading! Yay for west coast weather! I remember that it was around this time last year that I bought my new blades and truly went rollerblading for the first time. I just went back to my old blog and it turns out, it's almost exactly one year to the date! Only one day difference. Wow! Happy birthday rollerblades! LOL.
